MARJORAM

Scientific name

Origanum majorana

Description

Small, soft leaves, gathered in compact tufts.
Marjoram is a plant that never raises its voice:
its scent is rounded, enveloping, capable of bringing calm.
It is the herb of slow cooking, of simmering broths, of kneading hands, of a house filled with warmth.

Olfactory Path

Sweet, herbaceous, slightly balsamic.
A calming scent that eases tension and brings a sense of domestic intimacy.

Curiosity

In rural homes, it was considered the "comfort" plant:
it was placed in drawers to perfume the trousseau, added to evening herbal teas, and used to relieve headaches by gently rubbing the leaves between the hands.
In some areas, it was associated with rites of passage: it was said to bring serenity to those who wore it.
